Webcam Keeper

Privacy policy

Last updated 7 November 2026

The short version

Webcam Keeper collects no data. It has no network access, no accounts, no analytics and no crash reporting. It never records, views or stores video or photos. Your settings stay on your Mac.

What the app accesses

Your webcam's controls

Webcam Keeper talks to your USB webcam's standard controls (focus, exposure, white balance and similar) over USB, to read and set them. This is why it asks for USB access.

Whether the camera is in use

Webcam Keeper checks whether any app is using a camera, so it knows when to re-apply your settings. macOS counts this as camera access, which is why the app declares it. Webcam Keeper never opens the camera's video stream.

Files you choose

If you import profiles from the Webcam Settings app, Webcam Keeper reads only the file you pick in the Open dialog.

What is stored

Your profiles, and which camera uses which, are saved in a file inside the app's own container on your Mac. App preferences, such as whether to open at login, are saved the same way. None of it leaves your Mac, and deleting the app deletes it.

The diagnostics report (More › Copy Diagnostics) is only copied to your clipboard. It is sent to no one unless you paste it into an email yourself.

Children

Webcam Keeper collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
